A Wood Preservative is something one really doesn't give a thought to. Or a damn for. But wait a minute.... and ponder over the following few paragraphs so that the efforts you have exerted to create the exquisite drawing room for your client, don't turn to. ..dust.
Wood destroying pests. They have been with us since time immemorial and will stay with us for aeons to come. Man has been trying to eradicate these pests, to no avail. We may not be able to eradicate them, but yes, we can restrain them....from entering our premises. Think of the almighty cockroach. No one can eradicate them, but one can certainly restrain them, prevent them from entering our homes. So it is the case with wood destroying pests.
Consider the fact that these pests live and thrive in wood. It is their food. Just as we humans cannot survive without a proper diet of cereals, fruits, vegetable rice etc, these wood pests cannot live without wood. What they do, is suck out the polymers and pulp from the wood and leave behind dust. The eggs of these pests remain in a dormant state for up to 3 years ! And when they hatch, all they do is chew....chew....and chew. And all this happens in the forests. Not in your home, when brand new furniture is.made. Let us see how...
A piece of jungle (which incidentally belongs to the Government) is auctioned by the Government to say, a group of people, who are essentially saw mill owners. These saw mill owners, distribute the felled trees (logs) amongst themselves on purchase from the Government. The saw mill owners then, cut the logs into various sizes of planks and batons, which are in turn sold off to the plywood manufacturers. The plywood manufacturers, use these planks and batons as fillers inside the ply sheets and cold/hot press them and then sell these ply sheets to the plywood dealers. The dealers, then sell the plywood to actual users, for making of furniture or other wooden items. In this whole journey from the jungle to the drawing room, the eggs and the borers remain in the wood. No one knows (or possibly, can know)whether a certain sheet of plywood has any borers or eggs. There is no known method or means to determine their presence in the wood.
Now tell us, whom would you hold responsible for the borers inside the wood ?The Government, the saw mill owners, the plywood manufacturers or the dealers ? Nature. That's who you can. And what can you do about what Nature does ? Floods, earthquakes, lightning, rains, storms ............ all these are Natures wrath and just as we humans cannot do anything about them, so it is the case with wood pests. They cannot be eradicated. But yes....as we said earlier, they can be restrained and controlled. How ? By using a superior quality WOOD PRESERVATIVE.
Using a superior quality Wood Preservative, which can penetrate 3-4 mm into the plysheet/wood and form a protective layer/barrier inside the wood offers you the best protection against attacks from all types of wood pests, as well as lifelong protection. The Preservative should preferably be oil based, as penetration and longevity of the wood is extended. A petrochemical based preservative extends all these advantages with an assurance that the pests will never become immune to the base of the preservative.
The choice now ...... is yours.
